Get a quick look at your holiday experience
Negombo is a vibrant city that exudes old-fashioned colonial charm and has everything you need for a fun-filled holiday in the glorious Sri Lankan sunshine. This fantastic getaway is enhanced by a delightful bustling fish market, vibrant nightlife, and great food. Negombo has a lovely sandy beach, and water sports like windsurfing, kayaking, boogie boarding, and sailing are popular. Local attractions include Muthurajawela's wetlands, the ruins of a 17th-century Dutch fort, Negombo Beach Park, and Angurukaramulla Temple. Negombo comes alive after dark, with many excellent restaurants, bars, and nightclubs and Lewis Place is a hive of great activities to spend the night dancing.
Bentota is located on Sri Lanka's west coast, approximately 80 kilometres south of the capital, Colombo. It is nestled between the Laccadive Sea, and the Bentota Ganga's sweeping, sleepy lagoon and its trump card is its beach, becoming less of a secret among western tourists. Although a few high-end hotels line the shores, the town remains refreshingly low-key. Bentota has one of Sri Lanka's most impressive beach offerings. A long, broad swath of pristine sand contrasts with a lush green backdrop dotted with coconut trees. The waves can also get relatively high here, making it an ideal spot for surfers. The absence of souvenir shops and hawkers, which you might find elsewhere, adds to its allure.

Discover your day-by-day holiday flow
Start the day with a dip.
Start the energetic day with a swim in the infinity pool, followed by a breakfast of fresh fruit, pastries, and egg hoppers. Then, hop on a bike and ride along the Hamilton Canal, a Dutch-built waterway that winds its way the city, stopping for a juice and samosa at one of the villages along its banks. Next, take a tuk-tuk to Angurukaramulla Temple, an impressive fortress with a Buddha in the centre and an ornate shrine room inside.
The sun's beating down
The sun is shining, and there's only one place you'll want to be: Negombo's beautiful beach, which runs north from the town. The golden curve has earned a reputation for some of the best people-watching in the city, with ice cream-licking locals, guitar-strumming tourists, and excitable toddlers running in the shallows and scooping sand into palms.
Fun crowd of food enthusiasts
If you're feeling sluggish, pull up a chair at Black Coral for relaxed fine dining — a popular spot with a lively crowd of foodies. Sri Lankan ingredients are at the heart of the menu, and the place is buzzing until late. Head to Centre Point Grill and Bar for something with a less-is-more ethos in a space that focuses on exceptional food and drink.
Negombo's colonial past
The tour will explore Negombo's colonial past by visiting St. Sebastian and St. Anne churches built during European dominance. As we will see, these temples retain architectural elements that are distinctive of the Old Continent despite the passage of time. The famous Negombo Fish Market will be the final stop to learn more about the products most in demand by locals, and you can even visit one of its many stalls and try some delicacies.
Departure from Negombo to Bentota
Proceed to Bentota with a 1/2 day Negombo tour after breakfast at the hotel. Arrive in Bentota and spend the rest of the day relaxing on the beach or doing your own thing.
