Highland Ascents – Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Leave the dense forest behind as you ascend into the open moorlands. Giant lobelias and other unique flora line the path to Horombo Hut. As altitude increases, so does the sense of wonder—views of the jagged Mawenzi peak and Kibo’s snowy summit dominate the horizon.

Across the Lunar Landscape – Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Today’s trek crosses the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo, where the terrain transforms into an eerie alpine desert. The scenery is stark, surreal, and utterly unforgettable. This is your final push before the summit climb—rest well tonight at Kibo Hut.

Summit Day – Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
Awaken before dawn and begin the steep ascent under a star-lit sky. This is the moment you've been building toward. The trail leads to Gilman’s Point on the crater rim, then onwards to Uhuru Peak—Africa’s highest point at 5,895 meters. Celebrate with photos and awe before descending back through the moonscape to Horombo Hut.

Welcome to Moshi
Touch down in Tanzania and begin your adventure. Optional airport transfers from Kilimanjaro or Arusha whisk you straight to your hotel in Moshi, where the mountains loom in the distance. After a hearty breakfast, the journey begins with a scenic drive to Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. Registration complete, step into a lush world of towering eucalyptus trees, exotic birdlife, and playful Colobus monkeys. Your first trek winds through the magical montane forest to Mandara Hut. A short side trip to Maundi Crater reveals sweeping views of Kenya and Northern Tanzania.
