Bergen, Norway's second-largest city, is also the largest port on the country's west coast and one of Scandinavia's busiest cruise ship ports. The city's idyllic setting and stunning natural harbour cemented its reputation as one of Norway's most popular tourist destinations, surrounded by a ring of hills known locally as the Seven Mountains. It's also one of the country's most important cultural destinations, hosting popular summer arts and music festivals like the Bergen International Festival, Nattjazz Festival, and Bergenfest. In addition, Bergen is home to one of Europe's oldest orchestras. The Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, founded in 1765, was composer Edvard Grieg's summer residence.
