Mediterranean & Atlantic Coast
The second day is to explore the Algarve's diverse coastline. You can visit the Mediterranean beaches in the south, lined with fine sand beaches and cliffs. The water is clear and calm here, which draws many visitors. The parking lots are usually located on top of the cliffs, allowing you to hike for some spectacular views of the crystal clear water from above. You'll get to see the calm beaches of Sagres and the wild coast with all of its surfers and action, such as at Praia da Bordeira.
Explore the market in Olhão
Explore Market day in Olho, and be a part of it as well. Wander around the small stands, discovering everything from fresh herbs to homemade churros. Then we strolled through the small town's picturesque alleys, falling in love with Portugal all over again. Olho's streets are all blue and white, but not all houses are covered in decorative tiles, and the intricate tiles are also an excellent souvenir.
Departure from the Algarve
If possible, fly in the evening so you can enjoy this beautiful place for another full day. The drive to Faro airport, from which you will fly back home, takes about 45 minutes. If this is your first stop in Portugal, continue to the Alentejo region or go back in time to bustling Lisbon!
Day 1
Special sunrise boat tour
Get up early for a special sunrise boat tour, which is already the trip's first highlight. The majority of sunrise boat tours depart from Portimo harbour. Before entering the famous Benagil sea cave, your captain will take you on a gentle ride along the coast. Look for the tiny humans to get a sense of how big this cave is. And Santa Luzia is a charming fishing village worth a quick visit to wander around the narrow streets and come across tiled facades – a typical architectural feature of Portuguese houses.
