A Holiday In Ruins

Cancun has an incredible history of architecture and natural landscapes. For a more in-depth exploration of Cancun's history, don't forget to visit Chichen Itza. The famous archaeological site is one of the world's seven wonders and makes for a jaw-dropping scene. Admission to the site is cheap, and while the drive is far from the Hotel Zone, travellers will have a chance to see the Cancun ecology. For some fantastic photo opportunities that are a little bit closer to most resorts, check out El Rey Ruins. The site is home to some incredible ruins and is notorious for being home to hundreds of iguanas that would be perfect for a photo shoot. I highly suggest going to see more cenotes and going for a swim regardless if you went out to Chichen Itza or not.

Sea Life The Way It Should Be

The Interactive Aquarium is a perfect activity idea, especially if you've brought the kids along on your Holiday. The Aquarium would be a fun way to spend a day in questionable weather or looking to get out of the sun. Check out some of the touch tanks, swim with the dolphins, or attend a shark feeding. Some of the special exhibits will cost extra. And Cozumel also truly has some of the most excellent water on earth. The giant coral reefs make a paradise for snorkelling and scuba diving. This tiny Caribbean island has some incredible beaches, some fun land-based activities and most importantly, fun water sports like fishing, snorkelling and diving.  Just a quick ferry from Playa Del Carmen, you can make a day trip renting scooters, travel into the rainforest, see Cenotes and of course some of the best diving and snorkelling around.

A Day In La Vida

"Going away" doesn't always necessarily mean that your Holiday is an escape from isolation. Some of the most exciting new learning experiences happen right at the heart of all the actions. Oh, Maya Gosh!

Spend the day checking out some historical and contemporary art. First, be sure to visit the Cancun Maya Museum. Visitors get an inside look into some of the beautiful art of the Mayan culture from either side of history's timeline. Cancun has a few small Mayan ruin sites that you may see here and there. To experience the Mayan culture, you need to travel a bit further. We recommend you check out Xcaret, where costumed actors perform in a mock Mayan city, and the traditional Mayan 'ball court' game is presented. Or visit Tulum; you cannot visit Cancun and not see the Mayan Ruins of Tulum! It is an ancient walled city sitting on the edge of a cliff in Quintana Roo overlooking the Caribbean ocean. It is quite a sight to behold where the ruins of an ancient holy Mayan town are perched on cliffs overlooking the sea.

Isla In The Sun

What trip to Cancun would be complete without a special visit to the Isla Mujeres. Isla Mujeres stunningly gorgeous island lies a few miles off Cancun's coast, a fantastic day trip where you can go and walk around the small island or rent a golf cart and tour around for a few hours. Ferries run back and forth from various points in Cancun all day long. Excellent food and drinks are easily found on the island and beautiful beaches ranging from sugary soft sand to rocky cliffs! It's yours to explore. If you budget your week right, this trip can be a breeze too. The cost of the ferry is essential, but other than that, the island is your oyster, which offers all sorts of fun activities for relatively cheap like snorkelling, swimming with the dolphins, scuba diving, and much more.

A Walk of Life

Welcome to the oldest capital city in the Americas – and prepare to be blown away! If you are visiting for the first time, our Historic Center Walk is an easy way to witness the evolution of Mexican culture from its early days until today. Make sure not to miss a stroll through Chapultepec, one of the biggest and most beautiful city parks in the western hemisphere, and take time to appreciate the city's most bohemian neighbourhood Coyoacan. It's hard to have a bad meal here, and the unique Food Tour will show you just how excellent and rich local cuisine is. With nature being about as accessible as it gets, it would benefit the body and the soul to walk or hike around the city. Round out your Holiday by embarking on a self-guided Mural Arts walking tour of downtown Cancun.

Homeward bound

It feels like forever since we started talking about 7 Days, and here we are. Hopefully, you at least did a few things and had a fantastic time on your Holiday. On the last travel day, if you like to do some last-minute shopping, massages to get the knots out before the flight and relax on the last day in paradise. If you don't have a flight until the night, then maybe you can sneak away to see something you missed or just wanted one last swim in the ocean, ideally with sharks or turtles, of course, you can.
