Riga is Latvia's capital and largest city, serving as one of the Baltics' most important administrative and cultural hubs. It provides a wide range of enjoyable outdoor and indoor activities and delectable meals and souvenirs. It's a fantastic blend of the old and new architecture. On a walk through this lovely city, you might come across a 700-year-old church next to a modern store next to a new building that has been reconstructed to look old. Because of this mix of architecture and interests, Riga, Latvia, has a lot of fun things to do, and there's something different in every square.

Begin your excursion at the Riga Ghetto and Latvian Holocaust Museum, a must-see for anyone interested in learning about the effects of WWII on Riga and Latvia in general. It opened in 2010 to preserve the memories and history of Latvia's Jewish community during WWII. A visit to this museum provided valuable insight into the city's history.
The museum features a large memorial wall with 70,000 names of Latvian Jews who died in the Holocaust, a Ghetto House with authentic pre-war furniture and everyday items, and a memorial sculpture dedicated to Latvian rescuers of Jews during the war. The exhibition "3,000 Fate" is a powerful reminder of the futility and horrors of war.
Next, go to Riga's Central Market, Europe's largest market, with over 3000 trade stands and various food options. Wander the market stalls and pick up some ingredients for lunch.
Go on a self-guided walking tour in the afternoon. St Peter's Church, Jacob's Barracks, the Cat House, Elizabetes and Albert. Bastejkalna Park and The Freedom Monument are among the attractions in Riga's Old Town and Art Nouveau buildings. One-third of the city's buildings are located in the Art Nouveau District, distinguished by opulent decoration in sculptures and stained glass. The Latvian style flourished in the early 1900s and was influenced by German and Scandinavian influences. Book an Old Centre, Classical Old Town Walking Tour, or Old Town and Central Market Walking Tour for more settings and stories.
