Climbing into the Clouds – Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp 🌄
The trail steepens and the landscape transforms. Enter the vast moorland, a surreal world of giant heathers and misty hills. Cross sparkling streams and ascend the Shira Ridge before descending gently onto the Shira Plateau—your new home above the clouds.
Across the Shira Plateau – Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp 🏞️
A gentle day of walking across alpine meadows and open moorlands. Breathe in the crisp mountain air and enjoy panoramic views across the plateau. With shorter hiking hours, this is a vital day for acclimatization.
Lava Tower & Barranco Valley – Shira 2 to Barranco Camp 🗻
Today is a test—and a triumph. Ascend eastward past volcanic formations toward Lava Tower, known as the “Shark’s Tooth.” After reaching a high point at 4650m, descend into the beautiful Barranco Valley. Though you end near your starting elevation, this day is key for altitude adjustment.
Conquering the Barranco Wall – Barranco to Karanga Camp 🧗
Rise and shine for a dramatic climb up the iconic Barranco Wall. Scramble over rocks and take in jaw-dropping views before descending into Karanga Valley. Connect with the Mweka Trail and rest at Karanga Camp.
Base Camp Arrival – Karanga to Barafu Camp❄️
The air grows thinner, the landscape more barren. Push on to Barafu Camp—your final staging ground before summit night. Enjoy dinner and rest early. The summit awaits.
Summit Day – Barafu to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp 🌄
The journey of a lifetime begins in darkness. Between midnight and 2 AM, set out under a sky filled with stars. Ascent through scree and snow to Stella Point, and then press on to Uhuru Peak—the highest point in Africa (5895m). Watch the sunrise from the top of the continent.
After your victory, descend to Barafu for lunch, then continue to Mweka Camp. Exhausted, elated—you’ll sleep soundly tonight.
Descent & Celebration – Mweka Camp to Gate to Hotel 🌿
Your final day begins with an easy descent through forest paths to Mweka Gate. Receive your summit certificate—a memento of your courage and perseverance. A vehicle waits to take you back to Moshi for a hot shower and a well-earned rest.

The First Steps on the Lemosho Route 🥾
Touch down in Tanzania. If you’ve opted for airport transfers, a warm welcome awaits at Kilimanjaro or Arusha Airport. A scenic drive brings you to your hotel in Moshi—your gateway to adventure. A pre-trek briefing will ensure you're equipped, informed, and ready. Any missing gear? Easily rented right on-site.Your journey begins with a hearty breakfast and a drive to Lemosho Gate. After checking in, a rugged forest track takes you to Lemosho Glades. From here, your first steps into the wild lead through the lush Montane Forest, where the trail winds to the “Big Tree” campsite: Mti Mkubwa.
